 How football Was Developed

Modern football originated in Britain in the 19th century. Though “folk football” had been played since medieval times with varying rules, the game began to be standardized when it was taken up as a winter game at public schools.

Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal. Unqualified, the word football normally means the form of football that is the most popular where the word is used. Sports commonly called football include association football (known as soccer in North America, Ireland and Australia); gridiron football (specifically American football or Canadian football); Australian rules footballrugby union and rugby league; and Gaelic football.[1] These various forms of football share to varying extents common origins and are known as "football codes".

  • Premier League player Taiwo Awoniyi started his football career on the streets of Ilorin, Kwara State before making it in life
  • The Super Eagles striker has now decided to give back to his community by constructing a dressing room for his former college
  • The pitch inside the Sheikh Abdulkadri College is where Awoniyi started his football career before making his way to Europe

It’s about achieving goals. Sports, especially Football, can be divided into two primary ideas — the goal and the way. The way or approach has changed over the decades and varied according to desires.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Over the last decade, the teams have tended to increase the pressure, most notably the high-pressing and the attempt to regain the ball higher on the pitch, thus the popular tactics put more emphasis on building from the back instead of playing long.

People have focused more on the philosophies of Positional and Functional Play. Accordingly, the long ball approach has been considered largely old-fashioned and a secondary playing style.

It makes some sense because the long-ball approaches typically have a small success rate, not to mention the possibility of having the appropriate tools for the execution.

Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi - who is the GOAT? It is the biggest conundrum in football since the 'Diego Maradona or Pele?' debate.

The question of who is better between the Portuguese phenomenon and the empyrean Argentine has dominated the minds of football fans everywhere for the past decade and will persist into the future.

Club and national loyalties can cloud judgement on the matter, while personalities also play a part in how good a player is perceived to be, and most people know who they'd pick.

So who really is the greatest of all time? Never mind who you prefer, GOAL has taken a look at how the pair actually shape up head-to-head so you can be fully armed with facts in the eternal argument.
